Google publish a regular (ish) newsletter to your e-mail address giving details of latest updates etc.

The latest issue (September) has details of the latest upgrades, which offer the chance to draw lines and polygons (previously only available in the Plus version) and also support of Picasa to GeoTag photos (more on this soon as well...)
This is well worth subscribing to. All it takes is an e-mail....
